Setting
The setting of the novel is in a village along Mississippi River during the summer.

Major Characters
1. Tom Sawyer
Description
      He is a mischievous boy. He doesn’t like to go to school, steals some food especially sweets, and tricks other boys. He is adventurous and active boy. He doesn’t afraid to everything. He likes to play but doesn’t like to work. Although he is naughty, he never able to see Aunt Polly weeps. He used to be a leader. He can persuade his friends to play or follow his plan.
     
2. Huckleberry Finn
Description
      He is Tom Sawyer’s friend. He always wears old big clothes and a hat full of holes. He is a loyal and helpful friend for Tom. He is free-spirited boy. He always does everything he wants as he wished.
     
3. Aunt Polly
Description
      She is Tom Sawyer’s aunt. She always tries many things to change Tom’s attitude be better. Although she always scolds Tom, she very loves Tom. She will be very sad, if  Tom is lost.

4. Becky Thatcher
Description
      Tom and Becky love one another. She has been engaged to him. She is a jealous girl. She doesn’t want Tom thinks about another girl.



Summary
      One day, Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn went to a graveyard. They carried a dead cat so that it would take off Huck’s warts. But, after they had arrived at the graveyard, they saw Indian Joe killed Doctor Robinson. Then, Tom and Huck swore at each other that they wouldn’t tell about that to anyone. In the next day, Indian Joe told that it was his friend, old drunkard Muff Potter, who had killed Doctor Robinson to the law officer and all people in the village. After that, Muff Potter was jailed. One day Tom with his friends went to a island and played pirate in there but they played until few days so his aunt thought that Tom was dead. When ceremony to pay tribute to Tom began in  the church, Tom and his friends came. So, everybody cried happily. Then, Tom and Huck felt very guilty so they went to Potter’s cell and gave him some tobacco. A few days later, Potter’s lawyer asked Tom to tell the truth about that case in the town meetinghouse. At last, although Tom was very afraid if Indian Joe would kill him, he told that it was Indian Joe who had killed Doctor Robinson. But, Indian Joe managed to escape. Because of that, Tom became very famous but his nights were filled with fear that he would be killed by Indian Joe. Day after day passed, but Indian Joe still couldn’t be found. After that, Tom and Huck wanted to hunt for treasure. They tried to find treasure everywhere but they couldn’t find it. Until one day, they arrived at an old house near Mrs. Douglas’s house. When they had been in the house, they saw Indian Joe and his friend enter the house. They heard about Indian Joe’s plan to get revenge on someone and he found treasure in the house then, he would hide the treasure in somewhere. Then, they decided to spy on Indian Joe so that they could know about his evil plan and the place of the treasure. Few days later, Tom joined Becky’s picnic to the cave.  Becky was the girl that had been engaged to him. Meanwhile, Huck managed to follow Indian Joe and his friend to Mrs. Douglas’ house. Actually, Indian Joe would hurt her because her deceased husband had ever put him in jail. Then, Huck ran to ask for help to someone for help Mrs. Douglas. They managed to help Mrs. Douglas but failed to arrest Indian Joe and his friend. On the next day, there was news that Tom and Becky were lost in the cave. All people in the village tried to find them but they failed. Few days later, Tom and Becky were found. Then, Tom told how they could get lost and find a way out the cave. He also told that he had seen Indian Joe in the cave. So, they went to the cave then they found that Indian Joe had been dead. Then Tom told about the place of the treasure in the cave to Huck. They went to the cave and found the treasure. Finally, they became the rich boys in the village. Mrs. Douglas took Huck into her house and cared him as her own child. But, he didn’t like it because he was free-spirited boy and he was not used to be a rich boy. However, Tom managed to persuade him to back to Mrs. Douglas’ house.

What is the major conflict in the story?
      The main conflict of this book is that Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn see Indian Joe kills Doctor Robinson at the graveyard. They are very afraid if Indian Joe will kill them because they see that assassination.

How does the story end?
      -Everybody in the village knows that it is Indian Joe who has killed Doctor Robinson.
      -Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn become rich because they have found Indian Joe’s treasure.

What is the theme of the book?
      Don’t be afraid to do something.


Do you like the book? Why or Why not?
      Yes, I do. I read this book easily. This book has a dynamic storyline and doesn’t easy to predict. So, I’m not bored to read this book.
